OVERVIEW

Healthy Kingdom is a company based in Burlington, Vermont that sells fresh whole coconuts and smoothies at the Farmer’s Market. They are now expanding their online offerings to include a variety of wellness products and services. Their mission is to create a wellness community that gives customers the tools they need to develop healthy habits and achieve goals through learning to cook West African and Caribean cuisine.

THE CHALLENGE

How might we create a website experience that connects Healthy Kingdom's users with the offerings that are most important to them?

MY ROLE

As a UX/UI designer on a team of 5, I was involved in all phases of the project, from start to finish. I owned wireframing and visual design, and lead my team in navigating deadlines and undefined roles.

To gain a deeper understanding of the Healthy Kingdom customers we utilized research methods such as surveys, competitive analysis, and user interviews.

Research Goals

  • Define Healthy Kingdom’s target market

  • Identify competitors and evaluate strengths and weaknesses

  • Understand which Healthy Kingdom offerings are most interesting to customers

  • Understand how people define “being healthy” and “self-care”

  • Discover pain points people encounter with health and wellness

  • Understand how people interact with the community

EMPATHIZE

User interview

Next, we conducted a series of one-on-one 30-minute interviews with perspective Healthy Kingdom users. Our goal was to understand their needs, attitudes, pain points, and behaviors when it comes to health and wellness.

Some of the questions we asked our participants included:

  • What factors do you consider when it comes to buying groceries?

  • Do you often cook for yourself or others?

  • What is your level of comfort when it comes to cooking?

  • Do you feel like you have a healthy diet?

  • What does the phrase “self-care” mean to you?

  • What are some things that get in the way of creating healthy habits?

  • What is your impression of premade meal kits?

  • Are you a member of any community or special interest groups?
